This intranet provides resources and information on different safeguarding concerns, however if you have a concern about a child you MUST report this on my concern in line with policy and processes, so the DSL can ensure that the right support and services are involved should it be appropriate.
The content of this intranet may be emotionally challenging it contains information on child abuse and other safeguarding concerns. Look after yourself and reach out to your line manager if you need support.
Safeguarding – Is proactive. What we do for all our children to keep them safe when they are in our care. Much wider than Child Protection.
Safeguarding is:
• providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
• protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online
• preventing the impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
• ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
• taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
Child Protection – Is reactive. The policies and procedures that define what we do for our children who are at risk of serious harm or who have been seriously harmed.
