Safeguarding Quality Assurance Cycle at Initio Learning Trust. This process aims to ensure clarity of expectations, empower schools in reviewing their own safeguarding practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. We are committed to ensuring everyone understands what is required to maintain effective safeguarding practices within our schools.
Annual Self-Evaluation Audit: Schools will be provided with documents in order to self evaluate their safeguarding practice in relation to compliance with KCSIE.
Deadline: All schools must complete their self-evaluation audit by 30th September.
Compliance: Failure to complete the self-evaluation by this date will result in the school being classified as ineffective for safeguarding.
Action Planning: Following the evaluation, schools are required to develop a clear action plan with specific completion dates for any identified areas for improvement. These action plans will be reviewed by the Trust Safeguarding Officer. Actions that render the school ineffective will be prioritised for commissioned work as appropriate.
Purpose: This self evaluation empowers schools to review their own processes and procedures, fostering transparency and an open, reflective culture.
These onsite reviews will be conducted by the Trust safeguarding Officer who will visit the school for half a day. These visits will be guided by the Ofsted safeguarding toolkit and self evaluation audit, and will focus on the culture of safeguarding within schools.
These sessions will provide an opportunity to discuss areas of good practice identified within schools or explore specific areas that the school feels require further development. The Trust may also use these sessions to focus on specific themes which are under review for example Prevent or these sessions can be used for a case review.
No visits will be completed in Autumn 1 as completion of the self evaluation is required and Summer 2 due to exams and end of year commitments. Visits will take place from Autumn 2 through to Summer 1. Each school will receive a minimum of two visits a year.
Recommended learning and improvement activities for schools:
This is a table of recommended learning and improvement activities to be completed by the school throughout the year, with template documents provided to support and evidence completion. These can be used to evidence how schools meet the Ofsted requirement to be receptive to challenge and to reflect on their own practice, ensuring that the impact of safeguarding policies, systems, and processes is kept under continual review.
