To ensure effective monitoring and support, Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) must maintain a current list of all children receiving support from statutory services. To facilitate targeted support and intervention, students are assigned levels of need, which indicate the complexity and severity of safeguarding concerns:
Level 1 - Universal Support: All students are automatically assigned this level, representing the support provided to all children within the school setting.
Level 2 - Family Help: This level indicates that a child and their family require additional support to address specific needs.
Level 3 - Child in Need: This level signifies that a child has been identified as needing help from social care services to address more complex needs.
Level 4 - Child Protection: This level indicates that a child is suffering or is likely to suffer significant harm and requires statutory intervention.
DSLs must review cases weekly to ensure appropriate and impactful support and interventions are in place. These levels of need must be reviewed termly to ensure they accurately reflect the current situation.
