Upon receipt of a safeguarding concern, the DSL and/or DDSLs should check to determine it is sufficiently detailed. If a body map has been completed or there are any other documents referred to in the record, the DSL/DDSL should ensure they are attached and, where appropriate, are also dated and signed. There must be a chronology which is kept up to date, of significant incidents or events, subsequent actions, and outcomes, with accurate dates
DSLs or Deputy DSLs will then triage the concern by taking the following steps if appropriate to the setting.
Reading concern and allocating relevant categories (list of My Concern categories can be found in appendix 2)
Allocating a case owner
Take actions as appropriate
Allocate a task to staff.
Only one category should be applied to a concern. Categories should be applied based on the main issue within the My Concern report. This is to ensure the accurate analysis and reporting of data a list of categories available can be found here.
When responding to incidents relating to the following outlined themes, all staff, DSL and Deputies should follow the procedures set out in the associated policies:
Youth involved imagery Policy
Child on Child abuse Policy
Anti Bullying Policy
Behaviour Guidance
Behaviour Policy.
